General Summary
The Healthcare Transformation Lab (HTL) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to assist with the deployment of a feasibility study of a real-time language translation technology. This technology will be piloted across several departments at MGH to evaluate the effectiveness of facilitating conversations between hospital staff members and Spanish and Portuguese-speaking patients with limited English proficiency (LEP). The pilot is expected to deploy for 5 months, followed by 2 months of data analysis.
The primary responsibility of the CRC will be to support the Clinical Research Manager in planning, directing, and facilitating activities of the study staff and patients to ensure compliance with the IRB protocol and overall clinical objectives. The CRC will also be expected to provide technical and logistical support to the study staff members and facilitate data collection from patients. The CRC may also be asked to evaluate and analyze data if employed for the Data Analysis phase of the pilot.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with central monitoring and site management duties
• Provide administrative support to Project Manager
• Facilitate technology trainings for study personnel
• Monitor study activities for compliance with all applicable regulations, including data quality assurance
• Coordinate survey deployment to staff members on a weekly basis
• Review staff survey responses daily to determine if any study interventions/troubleshooting are needed
• Work with technology vendor to help troubleshoot any technical issues that arise
• Meet with study staff members in-person for training and troubleshooting
• Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment
• Follow-up with patients to complete surveys in Spanish or Portuguese
• Respond to questions from study staff and provide technical support as needed
• Participate in weekly meetings with study team
• CRC will be required to complete a series of trainings, such as the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program), prior to start of pilot
Basic Qualifications / Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in in healthcare, public health, health policy, or related discipline
• Academic record demonstrating experience and skills in analytical thinking, problem solving, quantitative methods research, and interpersonal communication
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Tech-savvy and willingness to work with new technology
• Ability to learn new things quickly
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to travel to MGH main campus and study sites in Boston up to 50% of the time
• Attention to detail
• Intellectual independence and initiative
• Ability to collaborate on cross-functional team
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
• Experience with quantitative data collection using REDCap or similar software
• Experience analyzing and coding quantitative data using statistical software platforms such as Stata, SAS, R, etc.
