Research!America is looking for a Manager of Policy and Advocacy to join our team.

The Manager of Policy and Advocacy brings Hill or federal government experience to help Research!America deliver on its mission to improve health through science, discovery and innovation. We are looking for a team member who brings superior strategic thinking abilities, strong analytical aptitude, solid project management experience and great communications skills. The Manager will conduct research on an array of issues related to Research!America’s advocacy and policy work and supervise the development of special reports, fact sheets, and other advocacy materials to support advocacy activities. This highly visible position will organize and lead Hill meetings on behalf of Research!America, and participate in Hill meetings with partner organizations.

We are seeking candidates with an undergraduate degree in science, public policy, government, or relevant field; and a minimum of five years of congressional or federal government experience, or three years of experience with a Master’s degree in a related field. Ideal candidates have knowledge of the structure and functions of federal agencies involved in biomedical and other health research, and the research role and priorities of universities, hospitals, research institutes, professional and scientific societies, and the range of industries within the biosciences sector. Preferred candidates have diplomacy, discernment, and ability to interface with high-level research & development ecosystem leaders, as well as member of the Board of Directors, members of Congress, federal officials, and key congressional and executive branch staff.
