Aetna Health Professions Partnership Initiative - Medical/Dental Preparatory Program

Program Timeframe: summer (six weeks)

Academic Level Targeted: college, (college sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates)

Racial/Ethnic Focus: any racial/ethnic group, African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian, or others from disadvantaged backgrounds

Type of Program: mentoring, career/academic planning, education (Track 1 - MCAT or DAT preparatory course or Track 2 - basic medical sciences course)

Program Attributes: non-credit, meals provided, housing provided, books/supplies provided, stipend provided, mentors/advisors provided

Program Acceptance Requirements: class year (college sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates), disadvantaged status (economically/educationally disadvantaged)

Primary Science Discipline(s) Targeted: dentistry, medicine, PhD programs in biomedical or behavioral health research

Additional Comments: Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria, and have a high probability of fulfilling the social and educational goals of this program. Primary consideration is given to students who have participated in the University of Connecticut Health Center Aetna Health Professions Partnership Initiative and Rowe Scholars Program.
